THE PROFIT IMPACT
SIMULATOR

(SIG)

WHAT IS THE SIG ABOUT?

The Profit Impact Simulator (SIG) is an economic planning tool built to clearly and transparently present information of any management unit.

Its main usefulness sits on the possibility to precisely measure the economic impact of modifications on the most important variables that may affect the business's activity. After all, by means of simulating alternative scenarios the SIG increases the decision-makers' capacity to make well-grounded choices.

The SIG models the temporal capital structure of the business during several registration periods with the objective to carry out both technical and financial simulations. It differentiates itself from other more traditional management indicators by taking into consideration the temporal dimension of the business's capital rotation during the assessed period of time.

The simulations that the SIG runs vary according to the kind of management unit taken into account but the following are among the most distinguished ones:

  • Changes in the production scale
  • Supplies and equipment reposition
  • Direct and indirect workforce
  • Stock variations
  • Opportunities for funding and financing
  • Credit relationships with suppliers and clients

We are currently working on the adequation of the SIG to different economic sectors with the objective to deliver planning tools that suit their specific needs- yet remaining user-friendly and massive. Among our most recent developments the most noteworthy ones are:

THE SIG FOR THE HORTICULTURAL FARM

THE SIGCHA

Horticultural production is not only bio-diversified but also varying in terms of the days to maturity of its crops (dimensions absent in other kinds of agricultural activities). This represents an additional level of complexity in the capital's temporal structure. Furthermore, its characteristic seasonality constitutes another crucial attribute of the indicated structure. The SIGCHA allows the horticultural farmer to both build an exhaustive image of its business and to simulate different possible scenarios that may have an effect on its activity.

THE SIG FOR THE APIARISTS

THE SIGAPI

The beekeeping activity is not only of crucial importance in terms of the incomes generated within the apicultural subsystem but also for its contribution to the ambiental biodiversity and the food supply (thanks to the pollination of wild flowers and other crops). However, this activity is nowadays threatened by a number of factors that hinder its development. Among these rise the sector's inestable profitability and scarce amount of credit opportunities, which deter its competitive scale professional development. The making of an application like the SIGAPI -easy to use for the apiarists and their associations- can contribute to rationalise the economic management and to improve the medium and long-range planning of the sector.
